Big Tanks :

"Plastics" material

• HPN Tanks made by Acerbis : 43 liters (11.3 gal.), in white, red, blue, black or transparent for 735 to 998 DM and 148 DM for installation kit. Made of non-paintable material ("Philipps CL 50"), so you have to stick with these colors here. The HPN tank is also available in a Nylon-material (paintable), for 1048 DM plus the installation kit. These tanks have a fill sleeve that stucks out of the tank, so mounting a tank bag may be more difficult as usual (Same as with R 100 GS PD). You cannot check the oil level with tank on the bike. It only takes about 2 minutes to get the tank off.
  Available from HPN directly, WüDo and Wunderlich.
• The original 35 liters (9,25 gal.) BMW PD tanks for the 88-95 models (with the bar around the fairing) are also made of "plastics". Price: around 1300 DM.
• TAG mades a 56 liters (14.8 gal.) kevlar tank to fit with a complete moderne dress. Price: around 1500000 ITL (12/97) for the tank.
• TOURATECH sales a 41 liter Fuel Tank for the R1100 GS.
  It is made of special fiberglass, handmade. It is fixed on the original fixingpoints of the BMW, there are no modifications to be made, the seat has not to be changed either. The fuel pump has to be taken from the original tank, and build into the new tank.
  It is delivered undercoated, and you can put every colour you like on it. The problem of the original (bubbles) will not occure: the material is not permeable for gas. It seems that some of these tanks (first generation) have delamination problems. The actual models are made differently.
  The Price: Net without german tax: 1565 DM (around 1010 US$ in the moment; 01/97)

Aluminium

• Tesch Travel Tank: 49 liters (12.9 gal.), for 1299 DM. This tank also has a flat fill sleeve, so mounting a tank bag is easy. Also available with 60 liters (15.8 gal.). Tesch offers also additional aluminium gas tanks with 11 liters (2.9 gal.) for 150 DM each, which fit in the Tesch-Travel bags.
• There is a aluminum smith in Arizona who custom makes GS gas tanks (and vintage bikes parts) . Average size are 8 and 12 gallons, which usually requires som trimming of the R100GS fairing. Cost are US$1050 and US$1300 unpainted. Contact info : Evan Wilcox
• WüDo sale two alu tanks called "Big Camel":
  • a 50 liters, for around 2300 DM. This tank fits without seat and instrument fairing (for 90-94 GS version) modifications. I don't know if it is with painting or not.
  • and the first big tank for the R1100GS, a 45 liters for around 4300 DM. This tank fits without seat and instrument fairing modifications. I don't know if it is with painting or not.

Steel

• Original BMW PD steel tank for the "old" R 80 G/S PD (BMW piece Nr.16111453914): 32 liters (8.45 gal.) available for 992,- DM, not painted, but prepared for paint. You need also some additional parts (a second petcock and junction to the fuel lines, 4 rubber parts to place on the frame, 2 BMW logos (70mm), the decals if you want and the very good rubber knee-pads) and I have no idea of the price for all this numerous "small" things.

Hard alu luggages :

• Tesch: a choice of different models (size and finition) from 279 to 650 DM, they also made a verry hard rack (it's like a second rear frame) at 448 DM.
• Hein Gericke: 36 and 45 lit. alu bags for 619 and 659 DM with fixing kit.
• Hepco & Becker (in the Wunderlich catalog) : 30 and 40 lit. alu bags for 449 and 459 DM. These bags fit on the H.&B. rack or on the origin BMW rack with a 17,80 DM (one for eatch bag) adaptator. They make 30 and 40 lit. top-case in the same line for 398 and 459 DM.
• Al Jesse luggage, cool aluminum bags available in the U.S.: The two bags have a total of 100 liters of storage with a custom made mounting frame. They fit in so close they only extend out as far as the cylinder heads. They are currently 1000 U.S. dollars including new mounting hardware.

• RMS (Rogers Motor Specials rennsporttechnik): "Far better weldered Quality than all others I know." says Possi.
  RMS makes classic (box form) 30 and 42 lit., the same with 45° edges and also "sur mesure" models.
  
• TOURATECH sales nice 41 and 35 liters alu bags.

Navigation

Road Book Holder

• 4 alu models available from TOURATECH, 3 for Din A5 width paper, from the must (RB-TT) electrical with light to the manual model (RB-01) and a small version for 6 cm width paper. (web pages in German)
• The manual Acerbis model with "flexible remote control". The same (?!?) model is also saled (made?) by Ramirez.

Enduro Computer

• 3 versions available of the TOURATECH IMO model. They have also kit with complete rally dashboard (dashboard+computeur+roadbook holder). (the IMO-100R computer available in German, French, Italian and English; the IMO-100R300 in German, Italian and an English version is in preparation... )

• the A-LOOP Offroad "Moose" PaceMaker 3 Enduro Computer.
• The "do-it-yourself", cheap, solution : use a bicycle computer.

GPS Holder

• TOURATECH alu models ( for English speaking, they are available from Cycoactive).
• the A-LOOP Offroad plastic model allows you to install any Garmin horizontal format GPS receiver (GPSII, GPSII+, GPSIII) on the crossbar of your motorcycle handlebar.

Varia

Airhead bash plate

• the BMW GS PD alu bash plate in 3 parts (link to a pic) :
  • under the engine (BMW part Nr.51472315652 for G/S and Nr. 51472315392 for GS);
  • on the centerstand (BMW part Nr.71609062034 for G/S and Nr. 71609062035 for GS), not shown on the pic. It protects the center stand and the pre-silencer and prevents the penetration of sand and dirt between motor and gearbox;
  • and the fiberglass "bra" in front of the engine and the exhaust pipe (I don't have the part Nr.).
• The "Top of the Line" exhaust shield protector to place on the centerstand. A model is available for the R1100GS.
• TOURATECH have centerstand plate for both GS and F650.

Seats

• Corbin: a choice of different models for G/S, ST or GS (also a model for GS with G/S-PD steel tank).
• Bill Mayer Saddles: Customize your seat using different density foams. After the death of Bill, his familly (daughter and sons) have taken over the custom seat business.
• Russel: a choice of different models for all BMW.
• Travelcades : A heated seat that actually gets HOT.

Windshields

• Aeroflow: They make one for the oil-head and also offer "AeroGuards" for wind-management in the riders knee and thigh areas.
• Cemoto produce an interresting windshield to be fixed on a enduro front light.
• GIVI: Makes one for the R1100GS. It looks exactly like a stock screen only 2-3 inches taller, and tinted. It bolts up using the hardware off of the factory screen.
• Rifle: US company producing windshields and fairing.
• Parabellum: They make windshields for all G/S and GS models.
• WüDo: They sale windshields and fairing for all G/S and GS models. They also have "flaps" to place under the cylinders for wind-management in the riders foot area.
• Wunderlich: They sale windshields and fairing for all G/S and GS models. They also have "flaps" to place under the cylinders for wind-management in the riders foot area.
